Albion slipped to a third successive home defeat – after a nightmare moment for Connor Goldson.
The Wolverhampton-born defender scored the 32nd-minute own goal which sent his side to a 1-0 reverse to his hometown club.
Goldson turned a low cross from Jordan Graham past David Stockdale at the near post.
Albion were toothless going forward for long periods against a well-organised Wolves side who have now won three in a row, all with clean sheets.

But the hosts were worth some reward for their efforts in the later stages.
Bruno rattled the crossbar with a ferocious drive from just outside the box.
And Carl Ikeme tipped a close range header from Lewis Dunk over the bar.
Wolves, though, held on – and their hosts have now gone four games without a goal.
