Albion have handed Liam Ridgewell and Richie Towell their debuts for the club in today’s starting XI.

Both face Hull City in the FA Cup third round as Chris Hughton makes seven changes to his line-up.

Left-back Adam Chicksen also plays and the Seagulls could operate with a back three, a formation hinted at – intentionally or not – by the club’s official Twitter feed on announcing the line-up.

Sam Baldock and Kazenga LuaLua return to the 18 after injury and would hope to get some game time.

Young defender Rob Hunt is also on the bench.

Elvis Manu has a real chance to shine as the only recognised striker in the XI although he faces a challenging afternoon as Hull name their first choice defence.

Adama Diomande starts in attack and is a particular threat after scoring the winner when Hull beat QPR on New Year’s Day.

Former Burgess Hill favourite Greg Luer is, as expected, on the bench.
