Romanian outfit Voluntari have snapped up Albion winger Jeffrey Monakana on a free transfer.

They have taken the former Preston North End man initially until the end of the season after the player and Albion mutually agreed to cancel his contract.

Voluntari are currently second from bottom of the 14-team Romanian top flight.

It is their first season among the elite.

Monakana, 22, joined the Seagulls two years ago but never made a competitive first team appearance.

He has had loan stints at Crawley, Aberdeen, Mansfield, Carlisle and, most recently, Bristol Rovers.

But he has been unable to convince three managers that he is ready for a run in the Championship or one of the cup competitions.
