Jamie Murphy is back in contention for Albion’s trip to Birmingham.

The Scottish winger sat out Tuesday’s victory at Blackburn after he was forced off against Leeds at the Amex last Friday by groin discomfort.

Murphy trained on Monday and will train again today ahead of the Saturday tea-time visit to St Andrew’s.

Manager Chris Hughton said: “It was a precaution. I could have started him but I thought with what we’ve got there wasn’t the need to take a risk.

“He’s fine. He’ll train and be available for Saturday.”

Hughton is weighing up whether to restore 13-goal Glenn Murray to the starting line-up at the expense of Tomer Hemed.

St Andrew’s was the scene of Murray’s previous away goal, for Bournemouth in the FA Cup, until ending his travelling famine from the bench in place of Hemed at Blackburn.

Hughton said: “That is the thing about substitutions, particularly offensive substitutions.

“As the game opens up in the last period, the one who comes on benefits from it. Probably that was the case with Glenn.

“I thought Tomer was very good. I was really pleased for him. It’s been difficult for him, because of the form of Glenn. It gives me really good options.”
