ALBION are in contract talks with Ben White.

They hope to negotiate a new deal for the promising central defender before the end of the season.

White’s contract runs out in June 2019.

The 20-year-old from Dorset has impressed in League Two on loan to Newport County this season.

Spurs and Liverpool are reportedly keeping watch on White, who was 18 when he was handed his debut for Albion’s first team in the Carabao Cup at the start of last season.

He made two appearances in the competition and was an unused substitute in the opening four matches of the Seagulls’ Championship promotion campaign.

White helped Newport through to the fourth round of the FA Cup. They knocked out Leeds at Rodney Parade and held Spurs before losing the replay at Wembley.

White makes his 41st appearance of the campaign in all competitions for mid-table County at home to second-placed Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former Albion defender Jim McNulty is Wembley-bound with Rochdale in tonight’s FA Cup fifth round replay against Tottenham.

McNulty, 33, had a kidney removed after he was injured in a match against Crewe at Withdean nine years ago.
