Gus Poyet has admitted Albion are unlikely to sign a replacement for broken leg victim Kazenga LuaLua before the 5pm loan transfer deadline.
Poyet had targeted a high-quality replacement for the Newcastle winger on a loan-to-buy basis.
He revealed to The Argus this morning: "There's nothing at all. That means if there is not a big, big surprise this afternoon - that phone call you don't expect - then nobody will come.
"My targets from now on are going to be players that improve the team dramatically, except if it is an emergency.
"Those targets are difficult to get. They are targets other teams want and right now we cannot compete."
