Ryan Harley introduced himself to the Championship in stunning style as Albion went top of the table today.

The new signing curled a 64th-minute free-kick into the top corner from almost 30 yards to help the Seagulls beat Peterborough 2-0 at The Amex.

Results elsewhere mean Gus Poyet's men will spend the two-week international break in top spot with 13 points from 15.

Craig Noone fired them ahead in stunning style after only ten minutes.

He picked up goalkeeper Paul Jones' weak clearance, went on a run and, from just outside the box, shot into the bottom corner.

Ashley Barnes took some credit for the goal as his chasing of a seemingly lost cause forced Jones to hurry his kick.

Barnes had earlier shot wastefully wide from a great chance created by Noone's run and cutback.

Both sides had moments of menace in and around the opposition penalty area in an entertaining first half, although Posh were not helped when influential George Boyd limped off in the 36th minute.

In Boyd's absence, Lee Frecklington became Peterborough's main threat from midfield and he almost levelled inside ten seconds of the re-start.

Posh carved through straight from kick-off and Frecklington got around Casper Ankergren before seeing his goalbound shot blocked by the back-tracking Inigo Calderon.

Hard work from Barnes won a free-kick centrally placed and Harley's right foot did the rest to settle any home nerves.
