Albion have been boosted by an early return from injury for Romain Vincelot.

The versatile Frenchman has made a speedy recovery from a dislocated shoulder.

He has already resumed non-contact training and will be available for the table-topping Seagulls when they return to Championship action following the international break at Bristol City on September 10.

Vincelot sustained the dislocation during last week’s Carling Cup win against Sunderland at The Amex after replacing injured captain Gordon Greer in the centre of defence for the second half.

Albion were also concerned about the possibility of ligament damage but manager Gus Poyet revealed to The Argus: “He is okay.

“He is going to train with us next week. It’s very good news and he will be available for Bristol City.

“He trained yesterday. The problem is we are keeping him safe from contact, because of the shoulder.

“He is going to train all week with the fitness coach, doing all the strengthening in his shoulder, and he is going to train with the team next week.”

Vincelot’s swift comeback will increase Poyet’s options for the trip to Ashton Gate. The summer signing from Dagenham and Redbridge had been playing in the centre of midfield before providing defensive cover from the bench against Sunderland.
