ALBION boss Gus Poyet plans to mould the midfield around Vicente now that he is up and running.

As revealed online yesterday, Vicente will make his first home start tomorrow when Hull visit.

Poyet is confident that Vicente has the qualities to be a success after getting his match fitness.

“Of course, because he is different to the rest, better than the rest,” said the Uruguayan.

“He’s played Champions League football and won big trophies. On top of that, he can take it. He’s not one who would be worried about that responsibility.

“We just need to make sure we do things for him to play better, where to pass the ball, how to cover him. There are plenty of things we need to do as a team to make him really influential.”

Will Buckley is still sidelined by a recurrence of hamstring trouble for Hull’s visit but centre-half prospect Lewis Dunk is available again following a one-match ban.

Poyet has given up putting a timescale on the return of long-term injury victims Adam El-Abd (foot) and Tommy Elphick (Achilles) after slight setbacks for the rivals to Dunk.

“We had a scary part with Tommy and Adam as well, then Adam got better and Tommy didn’t,” said Poyet. “I think the next week or ten days is going to be key to no more about when they are going to be ready.

“I said September and then October, so I’m not putting any more dates.”
