Gus Poyet has urged his Albion side to get ahead again against Hull at The Amex tomorrow night - but this time stay there.

The Seagulls have thrown away leads in each of their last three Championship outings against Ipswich, Crystal Palace and Leeds.

Poyet said: "We need to make sure we got ahead and defend better. We can play against any team in the Championship and if we don't defend better we've got no chance to start with.

"Then we need to give the ball to the players that are going to make the difference, keep the ball better. We were very poor in the last game at home (Palace), especially in the second half, so we need to be better than that."

Hull have risen to immediately below fifth-placed Albion in the table after a seven-match unbeaten run.

"They have been a very difficult team to beat, really strong," Poyet said. "They know what they do and try to make you play their way. Like any other team they have got weaknesses we need to attack."
