Versatile Romain Vincelot admitted Albion paid a high price for one second-half lapse last night.

Vincelot was due to start the game on the left of midfield, then switched to right-back when Gonzalo Jara Reyes was injured in the warm-up.

He then moved to a defensive midfield role after Liam Bridcutt departed but could not help stave off a frustrating defeat.

The Frenchman, pictured, said: “I thought we had a really bad first half. Our second half was better but things aren’t going for us at the minute.

“Even if we were not good, we were solid in the second half and they didn’t have any good chances, just the goal and nothing else.

“It hurts because we are not doing what we know we can do at the minute. Performances are not good enough to get the win.”

Vincelot was happy to fill different roles to help his injury hit side.

He said: “That’s what I can do, go everywhere to help the team.”
