Albion boss Gus Poyet will keep faith with his South American full-back pairing in Saturday’s test at Middlesbrough.

Poyet’s Argentinian assistant Mauricio Taricco and Chilean international Gonzalo Jara Reyes were in the defence together for the first time for the 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest at The Amex at the weekend.

Taricco returned from suspension at left-back, with Marcos Painter sidelined by hamstring trouble and Romain Vincelot relegated to the sub’s bench.

Jara Reyes, on loan from West Brom, was restored at right-back in place of the banned Inigo Calderon following a five-match absence with a knee injury.

They helped Albion to a third straight victory and third clean sheet out of five and will keep their places, although Calderon is available for the trek to Teeside.

Poyet told The Argus: “I am pleased Gonzalo got through the game without any problems and Tano played 90 minutes. They give us experience and quality as well, which gives you something extra when you play away from home.

“Maybe we have learnt from the past. It was the type of game (Forest) when if it’s not your day you are going to suffer and you need to do your bit defensively, to mark and make it difficult for the opposition, even if they have got the ball and pass it.”
