Gus Poyet today admitted Albion will face a race against time to be ready for their next Championship challenge.

But the Seagulls boss will be delighted to get tonight’s FA Cup replay at Wrexham out of the way.

The third round clash was postponed at 9.30am yesterday following heavy overnight frost.

It is now scheduled to go ahead at 7.15pm this evening, providing a forecast for overnight temperatures above zero has proved to be accurate.

Albion trained on an artificial surface provided by their opponents yesterday afternoon.

Poyet admits the postponement could affect team selection with Saturday’s league trip to Peterborough getting closer.

But he admitted: “The pitch was rock hard, not a chance we could play.

“It’s disappointing. We had everything planned and it changes those plans. We had worked out what we would do on Wednesday and Thursday, then travel to Peterborough on Friday.

“Now we will be coming through the night, maybe getting home at 4am on Thursday.

“The players will be in for some training on Thursday, no doubt.

“We have to plan for Peterborough but first we are dealing with what is happening today.”

Wrexham provided the artificial surface for Albion to train on yesterday.

With a party of 20 players still in North Wales, the Seagulls have been forced to postpone tonight’s Senior Cup tie at Bognor. No new date has yet been lined up.

The action from Wrexham will still be screened live on S4C and also now on ESPN, earning each club £62,000 instead of £25,000. Albion are showing game in Dick’s Bar at The Amex.
