El-Abd shines for Egypt
9:00am Tuesday 22nd May 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Adam El-Abd came on as a half-time substitute against Cameroon
Adam El-Abd has been described as a warrior on Egyptian television.
Now the Albion defender hopes to take another step towards a possible World Cup outing when Egypt face Togo today.
El-Abd went on as a half-time substitute for his international debut as Egypt beat Cameroon 2-1 in a friendly in Sudan on Sunday evening with boss Bob Bradley praising his performance.
The Pharaohs are unable to play at home this week for security reasons connected to presidential elections taking place in the country. Instead, they are preparing for World Cup action at a training camp in Sudan. They hope to face Zambia in a third friendly on Thursday.
El-Abd produced an authoritative performance alongside Fiorentina centre-back Ahmed Hegazy after going on with Egypt 1-0 up.
Adam Moustafa, who operates a Twitter feed on Egyptian football, said: “The TV commentator was saying El-Abd looks a ‘mokatel’ which means fighter or warrior. He said he reminded him of Wael Gomaa, one of the best centre-backs in Egyptian football history.”
Injury to Gomaa helped give El-Abd his call to the 30-man squad, which will be trimmed to 23 for the World Cup qualifier versus Mozambique, to be played behind closed doors in Alexandria a week on Friday.

"The game witnessed the first participation of Brighton defender Adam El-Abd with the Egyptian national team. El-Abd played the second half after replacing Zamalek's defender Mahmoud Fathallah, but he didn't impress during the game".
I rest my case!!

On another different note, the Argus is carrying a story that Gordon Smith is appying for the position of Chief Executive at the Albion. Plenty of the right kind of experience I think for such a post.

So once again I am right. He did NOT impress because he is rubbish and only fit for a Poyet team. You don't have to believe me this was the quote from AhramOnline.
"The game witnessed the first participation of Brighton defender Adam El-Abd with the Egyptian national team. El-Abd played the second half after replacing Zamalek's defender Mahmoud Fathallah, but he didn't impress during the game".
I rest my case!!
You clearly don't go to the Amex, as if you did you would realise what a good defender he is.

This is a direct quote from ahramonline. How could the Argus, (or the commentator), get it so wrong! It would be nice to know how well he did perform. Still, if they pick him again it must mean he impressed the Pharoahs' manager.
