Will Hoskins has written off a nightmare start to his Albion career and is keen to re-establish himself as a regular goalscorer.

The Seagulls splashed out £500,000 for Hoskins a year ago after a 20-goal campaign for Bristol Rovers.

A succession of injuries restricted him to three starts and six substitute appearances before he decided to go on loan to Sheffield United at the end of January.

Hoskins’ stint at Bramall Lane was curtailed by a hernia problem which required surgery but the versatile striker, who has a year left on his contract, is determined to revive his relationship with Albion after scoring five minutes into his comeback at Maidstone on Saturday.

He told The Argus: “I had a really bad year on and off the pitch. I’m not looking back at that, I’ve put that to bed and I’m just moving forward.

“I’m happy now and I feel good in myself. I just want to keep getting fitter and stronger and getting more goals. My main aim is to get into the team, secure a spot and get goals.

“That is what I want to do and I am confident in myself that’s what I can do. I always have and I always will score goals.

“I want to fight for my place here. We’ve got a good squad together so far, so it’s looking promising.”
