Albion go Balmy
5:50pm Saturday 21st July 2012 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Albion are poised to offer a contract to Le Havre prospect Jeremy Balmy.
The Seagulls are set to add the 18-year-old attacking midfielder to their development squad after he scored in today's 3-2 friendly defeat at Hastings.
Balmy was linked with Arsenal, Spurs and Valencia last season and AC Milan earlier in his career.
He replaced Vicente at half-time in the match against Hastings and scored with a left-foot shot from just inside the box in the 55th minute to put Albion 2-0 up.
Substitute George Barker, also brought on at half-time, gave the Seagulls the lead early in the second half but Hastings hit back after Gus Poyet substituted his first team players with the development squad.
Josh Jirbandey halved the arrears (68). Sub Balo Camara levelled with a spectacular shot past Tomasz Kuszczak (82) and then set up Zac Attwood for the winner (87).

On paper it looks a great move; only 6 months ago he was being chased by the Gunners, Spurs and Valencia, whilst Juve have also checked him out. If it all works out it wikk be a great tribute to the reputation of the Development Squad, the Academy and its ambitions. Fingers crossed.

Meantime I'm hugely relieved we lost today! I've been getting concerned as our pre-season form has been too good - bad pre-season results = good season and good pre-season = bad season....usually. Having said that we didnt slip up til the first-teamers pottered off, so I still have 'the fear'! ;0)

According to Sky Sport and some national papers CMS/McCormack swap is still very much on.
Mcormack and Snodgrass are yet to sign new deals offered to them at the end of last season.
One player who is under contract, and for another three years, is CMS.
Media transfer speculation is for entertainment purposes only.
Actual transfer news in the real world can be accessed at the Club's official site.

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken has confirmed he will allow Sam Vokes to leave on a permanent basis if the right offer comes in.

Balmy definitely looked the business at the beginning of the second half - his diminutive stature and the ease with which he could turn whilst on the ball reminded me immensely of Peter Ward. Unfortunately when the development squad replaced the first teamers, he faded quite a bit. Mind you, even Kuczszak couldn't be bothered, when the development squad came on. No offence to the people who run the developers, but they looked pants. At the moment, I couldn't see any of those players who came on at Hastings today getting even a sniff of the subs bench - Hastings made them look very ordinary. Good to see Vicente in the stripes, him and Baldo were a class above.

Also just noticed Brighton linked with Chelsea's lukaku (19) on a season long loan deal.
All fun rumours to kill the time.
