ALBION boss Gus Poyet has vowed to go back into the transfer market for another striker if his team fires blanks again at new Championship leaders Leicester tomorrow night.

The Seagulls’ long search for a target man has been on the backburner since they failed to land one before the close of the transfer window in August.

Poyet has put it firmly back on the agenda with a month left of the loan window following the latest Amex setback against Middlesbrough, which stretched Albion’s scoring-shy winless sequence to one goal and two points from four matches. He said: “The consistency I thought we would have we are only having one way in terms of not conceding too many goals. In the other we haven’t. Should we start talking about the striker we didn’t get? Well it’s up to the players that play on Tuesday to make sure we don’t, because if not I will.

“It’s very easy to go and try to convince one player to come here and give us a lift up front, so it depends on the players.

“I don’t think the chairman would disagree with me that maybe if we don’t score on Tuesday we need a player. I think it’s an easy decision, then if we can get it or not we’ll see.

“We haven’t conceded more than one goal in any game. We have the best defence in the Championship and we cannot win a game. I think you know where the problem is.

“The idea is to sort it out now on Tuesday. That is my challenge and my challenge to the players as well. Let’s change this spell by winning on Tuesday.”

Albion will assess the fitness today of Spanish midfielder Andrea Orlandi, who was not risked against Middlesbrough because of calf stiffness.
