FROM a furious Womble to a streaker on the pier – what would life be without weird and wonderful stories?

The final year of the decade failed to disappoint Argus readers who have a penchant for the preposterous.

So to celebrate another year packed full of odd and sometimes odious news stories, we have chosen some of our favourites.

On the day we count down to the end of the decade, we count down the ten weirdest stories of the year.

Number 6: Man appeals for help to find woman he accompanied to the toilets at gig (July 10)

The Argus:

A man appealed for help to track down a woman he met at a festival.

Chris Allen went to see Stevie Wonder at Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time series of concerts.

He met a woman, known to him only as Natalie from Brighton, but forgot to get her phone number before they became separated.

The 35-year-old met her as he was trying to find his way to the toilets. He said he was making his way through the crown when his hand “was taken by a woman” .

Chris, from Uxbridge in London, said he could not remember what Natalie was wearing.

Chris, pictured at the gig, said: “She’s bound to recognise me.

“I was wearing a light blue Lacoste cardigan.

“We got separated and I should have got her number.

“I hope she gets in touch.”
