A lane closure on the A27 which caused miles of queues after a crash is expected to last for up to two months.

One lane of the A27 at the Shoreham Bypass will be closed for between six to eight weeks while a “bespoke barrier” is manufactured and fitted.

The current barrier on the link road joining the carriageway was damaged in the early hours of Saturday morning following a crash.

A man was taken to hospital as a result and the road was closed.

It was also closed on Sunday night for urgent repair works but National Highways has now confirmed the works over the next two months.

The exit slip road from the A27 to the A283 will also remain closed.

There were miles of queues this morning due to lane closure.

Delays were more than 45 minutes both east and westbound during rush hour.
