Johnny Wore Black

From: Brighton and Worthing

Influences: A Perfect Circle, Tool, Karnivool, Porkupine Tree, Radiohead, Stone Sour, Johnny Cash, Jace Everett, Metallica, Alter Bridge, Staind, Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Skindred.

Profile: Noise – the third single release by Brighton and Worthing-based Johnny Wore Black – looks at the impact of social networking on modern society, taking inspiration from people’s seeming inability to communicate with each other.

The track, released on the Dead Cherry label, was mixed by David Bottrill, who has previously worked with Stone Sour, Muse and Tool.

It adds to the impressive line-up of collaborators songwriter Jay already has on his CV, including David Ellefson of Megadeth who played on the band’s 2012 charity single for Help The Heroes, All The Rage.

Jay describes his music as “dark and brooding, heavily influenced by the moving image”. The band has already been featured in Metal Hammer, Revolver, Music Week and played on BBC Radio and Kerrang! TV.

They have spent the last few weeks in the studio working towards a September album, with a promise to shatter the peace and quiet very soon.
