The Argus: Miss Black America

Miss Black America

From: Born: Bury St Edmunds 1999 - Died: Brighton 2006

Influences: Guns 'N' Roses, The Clash, Radiohead, Blur, My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, dEus, P J Harvey, These Animal Men, Velvet Revolver and many more than we can list here.

Profile: Just less than two years ago Miss Black America played their last gig, at Brighton's Pressure Point with We Start Fires. Now the band is back, Lazarus-like from the dead, for one night only to mark the release of their back catalogue on iTunes in May, and the birthday of their Hove-based mate Alex.

The band was championed by DJ John Peel, while both their albums received rave reviews. Their 2002 debut God Bless Miss Black America was voted album of the year by Rolling Stone's Michael Krugman and Jason Cohen.

For this gig the band will feature frontman Seymour Patrick and guitarist Mat Anthony accompanied by Greg McDonald formerly of the Dawn Parade.
