The Argus: The Great Park

The Great Park

From: Brighton

Influences: The Belstone Fox, Telegraph Road, Cormac McCarthy and the 1954 BBC version of Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood.

Profile: Stephen Burch's alter ego The Great Park began when he went to stay in a remote farm in southern Ireland. The music is built on a finger-picked vintage acoustic guitar, giving a threadbare backing for his densely-packed lyrics following the folk tradition.

He has already performed at the Fence Homegame Festival in Anstruther, Scotland, and performed solo in Manchester, Sheffield, Brighton, London and Reutlingen in Germany.

His eight-track album I Do Wrong, is being released on Brighton-based label Woodland Recordings and also features appearances by Birdengine, Blanket, The Diamond Family Archive and Mid-West Blues.
