The Argus: The Hornblower Brothers

The Hornblower Brothers

From: Brighton

Influences: Velvet Underground, Jeffrey Lewis, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Daniel Johnston, Belle and Sebastian, Fourteen Corners, Dizzee Rascal, Fountains Of Wayne, Idlewild, Moldy Peaches, The Streets, Nirvana, Kanda Bongo Man, Regina Spektor, Kings Of Convenience, Queen, Meat Loaf, Joni Mitchell...

Profile: Nathaniel and Alistair met at secondary school, recorded a few songs at home in 2004 and were pleasantly surprised with how they sounded. Alistair soon left their hometown of Halifax picking up James a bass guitarist and Gary with his arsenal of melodicas and Bontempis on his way down to the South Coast. The three of them moved into a flat above Antony, who just happened to be a drummer. Nathaniel was in Leicester writing more songs and gigging and rehearsing with the band as much as time and money would allow, before eventually moving down to Brighton.

The band has played with Architecture in Helsinki and Vincent Vincent and the Villains and headlined gigs in Brighton, Birmingham, Leicester and Bradford. They are planning to release their first single WayOutWest later in the year.
