Walkers and cyclists braved the cold as cars and houses were covered in ice.
Forecasts for the cold weather came after a yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued across Sussex.
While snow was not spotted across the coast, areas of Woodingdean were particularly affected including across Devil’s Dyke and on hills on the outskirts of the city.
