Overnight road closures on the A259 between Peacehaven and Newhaven are set to continue for the rest of the week.

The works by East Sussex County Council are taking place for carriageway patching and to repair cracks in the road.

This is scheduled to take place from 8pm to 4.30am every night up until Saturday, April 20 between the junction of The Highway and the Links Avenue junction.

East Sussex Highways state: "Traffic will be diverted via A259, B2066 Roedean Road, Wilson Avenue, Warren Road, B2123, A27, A26, A259 and vice versa."

These works are unrelated to the work on the A259 near Rottingdean and Peacehaven during the day.

A259 closure affecting bus routes

Due to the closure near Peacehaven, some bus routes will be affected up until April 20 according to the Brighton and Hove buses website.

They add: "Westbound Coastal services from Newhaven Town Station will be diverted via the A26, A27 and Falmer Road to get to Rottingdean.

"Eastbound services from Brighton will turn Left at Rottingdean and also divert via the Falmer Road, A27, A26 to get to Newhaven Town Station.

"There will be a shuttle bus running between Denton Corner and Kwik Fit, and a 14A running between Rottingdean and The Meridian Centre."

During this time they will be unable to serve certain stops in both directions which are The Fairway, Blakeney Avenue and Tudor Rose Park.

Meanwhile, the following stops will be served by a Shuttle service from The Meridian Centre to Seaview Road, which will run on a loop service between 20:10 until 00:40:
